To nude or not to nude?🤔...that is the question
Have you ever noticed how the same transgressions manifest themselves differently based on gender?
(For the record, I am not male bashing. I'm just sharing an observation I've made over the years).
Nude pics are now a thing and thanks to technology, we no longer have to wait for a face to face to see ‘the goods.’ As soon as we start chatting up a nice, cold drink of tall, dark and handsome, it's just a matter of time before he asks to see what he's working for. Many of us, for whatever reason, give in to this request to bare our lady parts to the object of our affection; all while telling that little voice in the back of our heads to go to hell. Some of us are even brazen enough to demand reciprocity...as if that somehow ensures confidentiality. Ha!
How many of us stop to think about the 'what ifs' before it is too late?
“What if he shows it to his friends?”
“What if it goes viral?”
“What if my parents sees?”
“What if my children see?”
“What if everyone sees?“
While these are all logical and very sobering questions to ask, the answers might be very different based on your sex. A leaked dick pic (in my estimation) does not make any waves unless it is a particularly beautiful sight. Then, it is met with admiration, notoriety and affords its owner major brownie points.
However, when a woman has a leaked nude and it can be met with ridicule and ostracism that can spread to all aspects of her life (much like being branded with a scarlet letter).
Suddenly, she becomes this dirty little 'thing' who should be ashamed of herself - and people will NOT let her forget it! Heck! She won't let HERSELF forget it! It is bad enough to have to deal with a personal betrayal let alone having to do so in the public sphere. There is no censure for the person(s) who violated her trust, and they get to laugh and point their fingers with everyone else.
It is not right and something needs to be done but while we wait for the policy makers to play catch up, we need to protect ourselves because the way I see it, it's win-win for the guys.
